In an alternate playing out of history, the Aztec Empire defeated Cortes at Tenochtitlan in 1521.  Without the oppression of Spanish colonization, the Aztec expand their empire across the Americas, developing their own technological advancements along the way.

In an alternate future, the city of Tenochtitlan develops into a major metropolis and cultural center.  In the fashion of the historical Aztec, culture is not enforced on the conquered. Coexistent cultural groups are allowed and encouraged to continue their traditions.  The result in this alternate vision of a future Tenochtitlan is an eclectic mix of Mesoamerican tradition, religion, and cultural iconography .
